Public transport in the Chamonix valley
Getting around the Chamonix valley and connecting with the ski areas is easy with the public transport system. The bus is free with a valid lift pass and the train is free with a Carte d’hote (ask your accommodation provider for this).
Follow this link to see the public transport (bus and train) timetables. https://en.chamonix.com/usual-information-services/transports/public-transports
Please note: Buses can be busy at peak times during busy weeks. We recommend taking an early bus in the morning to avoid crowds. Or taking the train is another good option. A short walk is needed between the train station in Argentiére and the Grands Montets ski area. The train also stops at Les Praz which is a 4min walk from the Flégère ski lift. This train service continues to Vallorcine where connecting with the ski area of Le Tour/Balme is also easy as the main uplift on the Vallorcine side is right next to the train station. Trains are limited to one per hour.
